I learned a lot about painting by looking through art magazines and trying to paint some of the paintings I admired in different magazines or newspapers.  In some cases, they were "art lessons" because the artist would explain how it was done.

Other times I might admire a painting someone else had done and see if I could add or subtract from it.  I hope they see it as a compliment.

Other paintings are from my imagination or from real life.  Trying to copy others helped me to learn and see what I liked to do.
